Catholic Centenary Memorial Choir - Uganda

The Catholic Centenary Memorial Choir (CACEMCHO) was formed in 1978 by the late Emmanuel Cardinal Nsubuga who was then Archbishop of Kampala to lead the faithful in the celebration of 100 years of the Catholic faith in Uganda. The choir ministers and evangelizes to God’s people through sacred music and cultural performances. It also animates 6:00pm mass at Christ the King Church here in Kampala, Uganda. The patron of this choir is the Archbishop of Kampala His Grace Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga. The Choir has travelled overseas to participate in concerts and liturgical functions, including Italy (the Vatican City) three times, France, Israel, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and the Federal Republic of Germany.

Anthony Kambugu is the Choir Conductor, and a musician with vast experience in performance and conducting. He holds a diploma in Music Dance and Drama from Makerere University and he is currently completing his studies for his Bachelor of Arts in Music at Makerere University. He has been in the field of music as a trainer of Music in Schools and Church Choirs since 1997. He joined CACEMCHO in 2000 and was appointed Assistant Music Director in 2007. In 2017 he was appointed Music Director and Conductor, a position which he still holds.
